We encourage guests to tip our housekeeping staff at least $2 USD per guest per day. Tips can be left in USD or Mexican pesos.

Due to weather patterns and climate change, the Riviera Maya can experience excessive seaweed washing ashore between March and September. While sometimes inconvenient, this seaweed is a part of the ecosystem and its removal can accelerate beach erosion by stripping away vital sand. Generally, guests can easily reach clear waters beyond the sargasso. If you happen to visit when there is more sargasso than usual, please remember we have an awesome outdoor pool nearby, as well as the lagoon, cenotes, and Akumal Bay. We do our best to manage this responsibly without disrupting the beach’s natural balance.
-

Akumal means "Place of the Turtles" in Mayan, and we’re proud to be stewards of Half Moon Bay which hosts turtle nests every year.
From May through October, sea turtles come ashore to nest and hatchlings make their way to the water. Please help us protect them by keeping a safe distance and turning off lights at night.
For swimming with sea turtles, we recommend heading to Akumal Bay in the morning. You can rent snorkels at our front office or at Akumal Bay.
